Its the second successive EUROPA League triumph for Atletico Madrid in last three years, lasttime they
won the same crown by beating the English side Fulham in 2010. This two teams
met five times before in the final of major tournaments, Athletic have the
better records, they have won three out of five finals previously played
against Atletico.
Falcau scores twelve goals in
this year’s competitions, confirming him as the tournament's top scorer. The 2012 UEFA Europa League final ended much the
same as the 2011 edition, with Falcao attracting the glare of the photographers
as he celebrated with the trophy, Falcao scores in a Europa League final for the
second season in a row, after grabbing the only goal of the game last year when
Porto beat Braga.
This time both the sides have
an Argentine coach, Diego Simeone is the coach of the winning side Atletico Madrid
while Marchello Bielsa is coaching the opponent side Athletic Bilbao. Whatever
the outcome of the UEFA Europa League final between Athletic Club and Club
Atlético de Madrid, one thing is assured: Argentina's coaching success in continental
competition is certain to continue.
